Spire Posts Wider-than-expected Q4 Loss, Weak Revenues; Sees Earnings Growth In FY25; Stock Down

(RTTNews) - Energy firm Spire Inc. (SR), while reporting fourth-quarter results, on Wednesday issued fiscal 2025 earnings view. Spire's long-term adjusted earnings per share growth target remains 5 percent to 7 percent.

In pre-market activity on the NYSE, the shares were losing around 4.3 percent to trade at $65.01.

For fiscal 2025, the company expects adjusted earnings per share to be in a range of $4.40 to $4.60.

Analysts on average expect the company to report earnings of $4.55 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

In fiscal 2024, the company's adjusted earnings were $4.13 per share.

In its fourth quarter, Spire's loss narrowed from last year amid weak revenues, but adjusted loss was wider than expected by the Street.

The company's net loss came in at $25.9 million or $0.51 per share, compared to loss of $31.1 million or $0.66 per share in last year's fourth quarter.

Adjusted loss was $27.6 million or $0.54 per share for the period, compared to loss of $0.78 per share a year ago. Analysts had expected the company to report loss of $0.53 per share.

The company's revenue for the quarter fell 5.3 percent to $293.8 million from $310.4 million last year. The Street was looking for revenues of $349.5 million.
