(RTTNews) - Intelligent power management company Eaton Corp. plc (ETN) reported Friday that its fourth-quarter net income attributable to shareholders grew to $971 million from last year's $946 million.

Earnings per share were $2.45, up 4 percent over the prior year's $2.35.

Adjusted earnings per share were $2.83, compared to prior year's $2.55.

Net sales for the quarter increased 5 percent to $6.24 billion from last year's $5.97 billion.

The Wall Street analysts on average expected the company to report earnings of $2.81 per share on sales of $6.34 billion. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Organic sales were up 6 percent, which was partially offset by 1 percent from negative currency translation. Hurricane Helene and labor strikes in the aerospace industry negatively impacted sales by approximately 130 basis points.

Looking ahead, for the first quarter, the company anticipates earnings per share between $2.30 and $2.40, adjusted earnings per share between $2.65 and $2.75, organic growth of 5.5-7.5 percent, and segment margins of 23.7-24.1 percent.

The Street is looking for earnings of $2.70 per share for the first quarter.

For fiscal 2025, the company projects earnings per share between $10.60 and $11.00, up 14 percent at the midpoint over the prior year; and adjusted earnings per share between $11.80 and $12.20, up 11 percent at the midpoint over the prior year.

The Street is looking for earnings of $10.78 per share for the full year.

The company also expects organic growth of 7-9 percent and segment margins of 24.4-24.8 percent for the full year.

In pre-market activity on the NYSE, Eaton shares were trading at $335.17, up 2.47 percent.
